GamiFIN 2021 conference (fully online) updates
Dear GamiFIN Participants,
The bulk of the peer-review process for full papers has just concluded and we are looking forward to the conference this April 7-9!
We were initially hopeful about the potential to run a hybrid conference in order to cater to those able to travel, unfortunately the COVID situation has not improved enough to go ahead with this plan. Therefore, GamiFIN 2021, like GamiFIN 2020 will be held fully online.
However, after last year’s positive experiences, we are optimistic that we will have a blast again this year, not just in respect to holding academic presentations and discussions, but also for facilitating casual networking and a bit of fun as well.
In terms of conference fees, this year we decided that the entry to the conference will be free of charge for all accepted authors, reviewers and PC members. However, you will still be required to register for the conference through our registration form. The entry fee for other visitors will be 150EUR for the entire conference, 100EUR for students (full conference) and 50EUR for one day attendance.
Please be informed of the following instructions:
- The conference will take place online via both Zoom and Discord (links will be sent to registered participants).
- Each participant should prepare to be able to participate by using a microphone, headphones and preferably a camera, as well as a stable internet connection.
- There will be the possibility to pretest the connection and equipment before the conference begins.
Paper sessions: Paper presentations will be held in a traditional manner where author(s) have a designated slot in which they will present their paper, followed by a Q&A session. The estimated timeslot for each paper will be 20 minutes. Presentation of papers is mandatory in order for the paper to be included in the conference proceedings publication.
Keynotes: Keynote sessions will be held through Zoom.
Posters (SUBMISSIONS OPEN TILL JANUARY 17TH): Poster presentations will be held similarly to paper sessions (Zoom), but with shorter presentation slots. This means that the poster will be presented in 5 minutes to all conference participants, and will be followed by comments from the audience. Moreover, poster presenters will be able to provide .pdf files of the poster that will be made available to everyone, thereby providing the possibility to receive additional written feedback. Instructions for providing the .pdf will be sent later.
Doctoral consortium (SUBMISSIONS OPEN TILL JANUARY 17TH): Our current aim is to hold the doctoral consortium, but we are currently evaluating ways in which this could be organised through an online format. The main function of a doctoral consortium is, commonly, to provide an entry point to a community of scholars and to facilitate a communal discussion of each piece of doctoral research, and the future academic career of the doctoral student.
Workshops and Industry Panel: We will be hosting workshops and an online panel addressing the Future of Gamification.
