Playing to Be the Mountain: A Design Workshop about Attuning to Nature

In this workshop, we will leverage our diverse ways of seeing the forest and the world around us to create gameful experiences that articulate the complexity of ecosystems. The workshop aims to be a transdisciplinary exercise in which we individually attune to our environment and collectively build a shared reality that others can play with. We will be using analog materials only and previous experience in making games is not required, so everyone is welcome!

GamiLiDAR ideation workshop

The GamiLiDAR project will host a workshop for ideating playful augmented reality interactions for collecting observations on trees and forests using LiDAR equipped consumer devices.
In the GamiLiDAR project, conducted at Tampere University and The University of Eastern Finland, gamified augmented reality applications are developed to observe trees and forests using light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technology in consumer devices. Until recently, LiDAR has been mainly available in professional measurement devices, but it has now made its way to high end consumer devices such as the iPhone Pro line of products. Our goal is to enable data collection while experiencing gameful interaction, enhancing the capacity to collect forest data and making the experience engaging.
