GamiFIN 2018 is excited to announce the first keynote speaker of the conference, Professor T.L. Taylor!
T.L. Taylor, Professor of Comparative Media Studies at MIT, has focused on internet and game studies for over two decades. Her research explores the interrelations between culture, social practice, and technology in online leisure environments. In recent years she has been working on the gameful and ludic developments in culture and society e.g. in the forms of eSports and streaming. She has authored the book Raising the Stakes: E-Sports and the Professionalization of Computer Gaming (MIT Press, 2012), which chronicles the rise of e-sports and professional computer gaming. Moreover, she is currently at work on a book about game live-streaming (under contract with Princeton University Press). She also serves as Director of Research for AnyKey, an organization dedicated to supporting and developing fair and inclusive eSports.
